The Rundown

To support its expansion, the company took advantage of a fiber run that connected its main building with more office space across the street. After a rigorous procurement, the IT team determined that the time was right to move to an IP phone system rather than upgrade their old PBX. As part of its evaluation of several vendors, Miller & Long’s team visited CWPS. They were impressed, especially with the test and diagnostics area, which provides the ability to duplicate a customer’s exact configuration and test it in a full lab environment prior to deployment. And when other Miller & Long employees were invited to participate in selecting new IP phones, the recommendations of CWPS came out on top. The company pursued the logical course… and selected CWPS as their full service technology partner.

Our Solution

CWPS designed and installed the IP Phone system with “plug-andplay” phones, which will serve Miller & Long well when it needs to move to a new bigger building. Security and reliability requirements were met by confining IP voice traffic to its own VLAN. The entire implementation, including the training conducted by CWPS, went flawlessly, further cementing the relationship between the two firms.

The Results

Not only do Miller & Long's new phones plug into any data wall port, but they are powered over the same network cabling used for data. Voice mails now go into the same inbox as email, and can be forwarded to colleagues – a very popular capability everyone in the company enjoys. The IT team has more control than ever with web based management, and a five year agreement with CWPS for aroundthe-clock support assures peace of mind. As Miller & Long continues to grow, their new IP Phone system is poised to keep up.

The Rundown

Verdi Consulting came to CWPS when compliance requirements in some of their Federal Government contracts created the need to upgrade its internal IT system. The company does a lot of work with various branches of the Federal Government and in some cases, they are contractually obligated to meet certain service level agreements with respect to server downtime and data protection. The company was looking for a solution that would minimize downtime, speed up its network, eliminate congestion in workflows, and ensure access to data 24x7.

Our Solution

CWPS upgraded Verdi Consulting’s network infrastructure (including a new core switching environment and UCS servers), built a new private cloud leveraging Cisco VMware and NetApp, and created a secondary disaster recovery site that is a replica of Verdi’s primary site at our data center in Ashburn, VA. This new structure allows redundancy as well as site to site replication, and provides Verdi Consulting with data storage in a secured facility that has redundant power, internet, and cooling.

The Results

The CWPS solution enabled Verdi Consulting to meet its stringent client Service Level Agreements within the contractually obligated timeline and the company’s ongoing relationship with CWPS ensures continuous operation and timely IT problem resolution. Through a co-managed IT support arrangement, Verdi Consulting handles day to day issues relating to servers and workstations. If they need escalation support, they contact CWPS. CWPS provides 24x7 monitoring of Verdi Consulting’s server and has the tools to put a plan in place to rectify any problems in a timely manner. With its new IT system and disaster recovery site in place, Verdi Consulting now has an IT infrastructure that is scalable to accommodate the firm’s growth over a number of years.

The Rundown

Each day NPRA’s workers need to access corporate applications and data as they travel or work from home. When NPRA’s IT Manager, Carlos Lopez, was alerted that NPRA remote workers couldn’t connect, he discovered a terminal server had completely failed. Anticipating that a restore would take hours of work and require tedious re-installs on his end, Carlos put in a call to the CWPS Easy Data Protection team to see how they could help.

Our Solution

The DC-based association first updated its data network with Cisco switches and a wireless controller. The improved network was reinforced with Cisco’s industry leading ASA firewall. To protect NPRA’s mission critical servers, CWPS implemented ‘Easy Data Protection’ – a powerful on-site and cloudbased data storage and recovery solution that provides real-time, hands-free backups.

The Results

CWPS sprang into action. One hour later the EDP team called Carlos to report that his server was restored. CWPS then helped NPRA with additional post-restore support – working with Carlos until the server was fully configured for NPRA’s production environment. In short order NPRA returned to normal operations and remote users were back online and able to access the data and apps they depend on for day-to-day activities. With CWPS as its technology partner, access to vital information is one less worry for NPRA.
